Life can be difficult and seem overwhelming at times, so maybe you need to get away from your normal surroundings to clear your head. Sounds like you need a retreat!
Jobs can be stressful, not to mention the traffic you drive through each day to get there or the people you deal with at work. Sounds like you need a retreat!
Family members can be disagreeable, and you just need to find a private place where you can get alone with God and rest. No matter how strong or weak you may be, everybody deserves a few days and nights away to take in some fresh air and come back to life feeling ready to do it again. Sounds like you need a retreat!
What does Miriam Webster say about a RETREAT?
Is a RETREAT just a modern-day, spiritual phenomenon?
The practice of spending a specific time away with God is actually way more than just a modern-day phenomenon.
The idea actually dates back to the 1520s when a Catholic, Saint Ignatius of Loyola’s, composed what was titled the Spiritual Exercises. These exercises were written with the intention of helping participants in religious retreats to discern the will of God in their lives, leading to a personal commitment to follow Jesus whatever the cost.
The thought of leaving your everyday life to retreat and connect on a deeper level with God is as old as Christianity itself. Remember, Jesus fasted in the desert for forty days and nights and some use that as a biblical justification of retreats. You may say, well that was most definitely, not a retreat. It was a fight against Satan himself.
My response is many of you need to get away to resolve how to fight against Satan, so you can go back to life with your armor on. Ladies and gentlemen this is not a modern-day phenomenon. Sounds like you need a retreat!
A RETREAT is for the lifestyles of the rich and famous, right?
How do I book a RETREAT?
The first thing you need to do is make up your mind that you need a break or time to regroup.
If you are not sure about coming alone, bring a friend or talk with your women’s or men’s group. Consider inviting your Sunday School Class or Life Group to the Valley for a retreat.
Maybe you need a romantic get away with your spouse and would consider a marriage retreat. Make plans to join us for our Couple’s Retreat May 31-June 1.
